Sur les billets de faible capacité, ces données sont obligatoirement des données transport, encodées conformément à un codage compact décrit dans la présente norme et adapté à une taille mémoire restreinte. Sur les billets de plus grande capacité, la présente norme permet également l’utilisation d’autres référentiels pour le codage des données (y compris des référentiels non transport, bien que la finalité première de la présente norme soit l’hébergement de données transport).
