Le présent document prescrit une méthode d'évaluation de la teneur en hydrocarbures aromatiques polycycliques condensés à trois cycles ou plus, comportant éventuellement des substituants courts de type alkyle ou cycloalkyle, et présents à une concentration comprise entre 1 % m/m et 15 % m/m dans les huiles de base neuves ou des coupes pétrolières sans asphaltènes. Elle ne peut pas convenir pour les huiles lubrifiantes additivées.
