Le présent document décrit un mode opératoire de détermination du confinement minimal nécessaire pour obtenir la réaction violente (déflagration ou détonation) d'une substance explosive soumise à un échauffement. La substance est confinée dans une douille d'acier fermée par un disque comprenant une lumière de diamètre variable. On détermine le diamètre maximal, dit "diamètre limite", pour lequel la douille éclate.
