Le présent document spécifie deux méthodes, directe et indirecte, pour la détermination de la vitesse de combustion libre des cigarettes. Les deux méthodes sont applicables aux cigarettes et aux produits cylindriques comparables (par exemple, produits à enveloppe en tabac reconstitué) susceptibles de se consumer librement. La méthode indirecte permet en outre de calculer la pente de combustion libre et la combustibilité intrinsèque d'une cigarette.
