Elle comprend d'une part un test destiné à apprécier la résistance des agrégats à l'éclatement dû à leur humectation, d'autre part un test de percolation indicateur de la diminution potentielle de la conductivité hydraulique en milieu saturé. La méthode s'applique spécifiquement aux horizons de surface, intéressés par les façons culturales.
