Le présent document définit les exigences relatives à la conception, à la fabrication, à l'assemblage, à la sécurité et aux performances (rendement et émissions), aux instructions et au marquage, et les méthodes d'essai et combustibles d'essai correspondants pour les essais de type de cuisinières domestiques à combustible solide, destinées à être installées dans le volume habitable. Il s'applique aux appareils domestiques alimentés manuellement dont la fonction principale est de cuire et la fonction secondaire de chauffer l'espace environnant. Il ne s'applique pas aux appareils alimentés par trémie ou allumés mécaniquement ni aux appareils équipés d'un ventilateur pour l'alimentation en air de combustion.
