Le présent document définit les prescriptions relatives à la sécurité et aux performances auxquelles doivent satisfaire les véhicules des services de secours et de lutte contre l'incendie. Ces prescriptions concernent : la carrosserie, les équipements électriques, les instruments de manoeuvre et de commande, le bruit, l'attelage de remorque, les pannes et le remorquage, ainsi que la résistance à la corrosion. Le présent document fait partie d'une série de normes harmonisées s'adressant aux concepteurs pour obtenir présomption de conformité aux exigences essentielles de la Directive "Machines" 2006/42/CE (voir Annexe ZA). Les équipements installés à demeure sont traités dans la norme NF EN 1846-3.
