Le présent document prescrit les exigences, les méthodes d'essai, le marquage et les informations à fournir par le fabricant (notice d'information du fabricant) relatifs aux descendeurs, lesquels comprennent les supports d'assurage pour la descente (appelés ci-après supports d'assurage), destinés au sauvetage et à assurer une protection contre les chutes dans un système de sauvetage, qui constitue un système de protection individuelle contre les chutes. Il ne spécifie aucune exigence concernant les descendeurs qui sont utilisés en alpinisme/en escalade ou avec les systèmes d'accès par corde ou de maintien au poste de travail.
