<p> La présente Norme internationale établit les règles générales pour l'élaboration de schémas de procédé pour les unités de fabrication/de production. Ces schémas illustrent la configuration et le fonctionnement des usines en question et font partie intégrante de la documentation technique complète nécessaire pour planifier, concevoir, construire, gérer, mettre en service, faire fonctionner, entretenir et mettre hors service une usine. Les schémas de procédé contribuent à simplifier les échanges d'information entre parties intéressées par l'élaboration, la conception, la construction, le fonctionnement et la maintenance de telles usines. La présente Norme internationale n'est pas applicable aux schémas du domaine électrotechnique. </p>
