La capacité des revêtements à résister à l'usure causée par des nettoyages répétés et à ne pas se tacher de manière indélébile est un facteur important, tant d'un point de vue pratique que pour la comparaison et l'appréciation de ces revêtements. La présente Norme internationale prescrit des méthodes accélérées pour la détermination de la résistance au frottement humide. En ce qui concerne l'aptitude au nettoyage des revêtements, elle spécifie seulement la méthode elle-même, et non les agents salissants. NOTE- Ces propriétés ne dépendent pas seulement de la qualité du revêtement, mais également du subjectile, de la méthode d'application, des conditions de séchage et d'autres facteurs;les résultats obtenus ne sont donc pas directement utilisables dans la pratique. Dans la présente Norme internationale, l'évaluation du revêtement est effectuée d'après un subjectile donné, selon une méthode d'application établie, dans des conditions de séchage spécifiées et selon une méthode définie de frottement humide.
