Il donne les prescriptions communes à tous les chariots sauf celles relatives aux chariots à poste de conduite élevé, aux chariots tout-terrain (relevant de la NF EN 15830) , aux chariots préparateurs de commande à poste de commande du centre ainsi qu'aux transpalettes à poste de commande à l'extrémité, à conducteurs portés ou accompagnant.
