Reciprocating internal combustion engine driven alternating current generating sets - Part 3 : alternating current generators for generating sets

ISO 8528-3:2005 specifies the principal characteristics of Alternating Current (a.c.) generators under the control of their voltage regulators when used in generating set applications. It supplements the requirements of IEC 60034-1.ISO 8528-3:2005 applies to a.c. generators used in a.c. generating sets driven by reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engines for land and marine use, excluding generating sets used on aircraft or to propel land vehicles and locomotives. For some specific applications (e.g. essential hospital supplies, high-rise buildings) supplementary requirements may be necessary. The provisions of ISO 8528-3:2005 should be regarded as the basis for establishing any supplementary requirements. For a.c. generating sets driven by other reciprocating-type prime movers (e.g. steam engines), the provisions of ISO 8528-3:2005 should be used as a basis for establishing these requirements.

Reciprocating internal combustion engine driven alternating current generating sets - Part 3 : alternating current generators for generating sets

This document specifies the principal characteristics of alternating current (a.c.) generators under the control of their excitation control system when used for reciprocating internal combustion (RIC) engine driven generating set applications and supplements the requirements given in IEC 60034-1. It covers the use of such a.c. generators for land and marine applications, excluding generating sets used on aircraft or to propel land vehicles and locomotives. NOTE For some specific applications (e.g. essential hospital supplies, high-rise buildings, operation parallel with the grid), supplementary requirements can be necessary. The provisions of this document can be regarded as the basis for establishing any supplementary requirements. For a.c. generating sets driven by other reciprocating-type prime movers (e.g. steam engines) the provisions of this document can be used as basis for establishing these requirements.

ZOOM ON ... the Requirements department
To comply with a standard, you need to quickly understand its issues in order to determine its impact on your activity.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.

The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
